Save for Alone in the Dark, Christian Slater has been able to do very little wrong in my eyes. I even liked him as a mopey guy with a baboon heart.
Playback looks like it has the prospect for excellence -- but it could just as easily trip over its own horror tropes and basically be a really bad version of The Ring mixed with excess gore and found-footage derp. I have no problem with lots of blood and guts, so long as the core of the story is strong. Here is hoping.
